Non demoninational weddings/blessings

Recent stats released by the Central Statistics Office reveal that civil weddings are becoming increasingly popular in Ireland and may overtake religious ceremonies by the year 2012.

Civil ceremonies have increased from 6% in 1996 to over 23% in 2006, according to the CSO.  During the same period, the proportion of religious ceremonies has decreased.

If you are going the Civil Ceremony route, then you might also want to have a non-denominational blessing or a commitment ceremony afterwards.

One man who is offering up his services for commitment ceremonies for weddings is Michael McKeon.  Based in Roscommon, Michael will travel to locations around Ireland and depending on the distance may require overnight accomodation.  He charges approx €400.00 for the ceremony if you write your own vows, €450.00 if he writes them for you.

If you are having a civil marriage in the registry office, you may like to have a blessing or ceremony afterwards to share with your guests.

Some couples may not want to/or be able to marry legally but wish to exchange promises and vows in front of friends and family.

What if you got married abroad, and then wanted to share a special day with family and friends after your return?  This could  be the perfect solution for you!

Some suggestions for venues for your ceremony could be:

  • Beautiful gardens
  • Hotel venues
  • Homes
  • Beaches
  • Parks
  • Cruises
  • Yachts

These are just a few of the ideas which could be used for your non denominational wedding or blessing, for further details, you can contact Michael directly through his website, http://www.celebrationsireland.com

Specializing in non-denominational weddings, partnerships, and commitment ceremonies, Michael has 15 years of experience and can help you create the ceremony that suits your needs and style.  You may write your vows or Michael will write them with you or can do it all for you.  He is open to any variation of ideas be they traditional, eclectic, modern or classic – the choice is yours!
